Spend a Fun and Entertaining Day at Historic Roscoe Village

On your next visit to Ohio, spend a day at Historic Roscoe Village in Coshocton.  There are a variety of attractions at Roscoe Village including living history tours, Canal cruises, exceptional shopping, gardens, a museum and more.

Roscoe Village was once a vibrant port town along the Ohio and Erie Canal system.  Today, its charm and attractions have been restored in a recreated 1800s village atmosphere.  In addition to its permanent historic attractions and shops, themed festivals and special events are held here throughout the year.

History is brought to life at Roscoe Village.  Its historic buildings showcase daily life during the 1800s. You can tour the town doctor’s home and office and the one-room school. As you visit homes of artisans, you’ll see living history displays of broom making, printing, bucket making and other examples of craftsmanship. You can tour the historic buildings on your own or take a guided tour which are offered seasonally.

You will also want to tour the Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum at Roscoe Village.  There are several permanent galleries on display, including American Indian tools, pottery, baskets and beadwork from tribes across North America.  There is also an Oriental Gallery featuring beautiful ceramics, lacquer ware, carvings and Samurai swords. The Historical Ohio Gallery features a recreated pioneer home complete with furnishings and artifacts.  There is also a Decorative Arts Gallery and a Special Exhibit Gallery that showcases a variety of different art and history exhibits throughout the year.

The Monticello III at Roscoe Village gives visitors a unique opportunity to ride on board a horse-drawn canal boat.  Another popular attraction at the Village is the Hands-on Room at the Visitor Center.  Here, both children and adults can try candle dipping, rope making and other crafts.  Both Canal Boat tours and Hands-on activities are available at scheduled times seasonally at Roscoe Village.
Throughout Roscoe Village, visitors have an opportunity to browse a wide variety of specialty shops and boutiques.  The House of G. A. Fisher features one-of-a-kind fine jewelry and beautiful keepsakes and gifts.  At the Sandpiper shop, you can see Mr. Sam Clow creating beautifully handcarved replicas of a wide variety of birds.

Wildwood Music is another terrific shop to visit at Roscoe Village. Here you can see and purchase a variety of handmade, beautiful stringed instruments. These are just a few of the many interesting shops located in the Village.  You can also dine in Roscoe Village at the Olde Warehouse Restaurant, or enjoy delicious pub fare at the Lock 27 Tavern.

In addition to wonderful historic exhibitions, terrific shopping and Canal Boat rides, Roscoe Village also features charming gardens brimming with beautiful plants, flowers and trees.  Spending time at Roscoe Village is an enchanting experience the entire family will enjoy.
