Have Fun at the African Safari Wildlife Park in Ohio

There’s a wonderful opportunity to see over 50 different species of fascinating animals up close in Ohio.  The African Safari Wildlife Park in Port Clinton is a drive thru Safari Park where you can see and photograph a wide variety of animals.

During your tour of this hundred acre preserve, you’ll see all of your favorite African animals, plus many rare and even endangered species.  The animals in the drive thru area roam freely.  Although some are partitioned off from the roadway for safety reasons, you can observe them in their natural setting right from your vehicle.

Throughout your drive through the African Safari Wildlife Park, you can feed very friendly animals such as deer, buffalo and Alpacas directly from your car.  A bucket of food is included in the price of your tour, and the animals are eager to meet you and enjoy a snack.  It isn’t uncommon for the animals roaming the park to seek food through open windows, and they are not shy about helping themselves to the animal feed.

Visitors can photograph, touch and pet deer, Alpacas, ostriches, buffalo and other animals as they eat, and you can tour the drive thru area as many times as you like.  Additional food may be purchased, as well. Of course, if you’d rather just observe the animals instead of interacting with them, keeping your car windows closed is an option.

After driving thru the African Safari Wildlife Park, you can tour the walk-through area, Safari Junction.  Pig Races, educational talks and animal shows are held here, and there are pony rides available seasonally.  Monkeys, snakes and a variety of birds and other animals are also on.  You can interact with friendly and knowledgeable animal keepers throughout the park to learn more about the animals.

Some of the most popular animals at the African Safari Wildlife Park are the giraffes, zebras, water buffalo and camels.  Both two-humped Bactrian camels and one-humped Dromedary camels reside at the Park, and camel rides are available. Visitors have a unique opportunity to few a white zebra as well as the rare Giant Eland.

There are less than 75 warthogs in the United States, and you can see several at the African Safari Wildlife Park.  Many baby animals are born in the Park each year, so it is likely you will also be able to see baby exotic animals during your visit.

The Safari Grill features freshly prepared grilled foods such as cheeseburgers, chicken and hotdogs, plus delicious hand-dipped ice cream and a variety of snacks and drinks.  There is also a Gift and Souvenir Shop where you can purchase a T-shirt or another great gift to commemorate your adventure at the African Safari Wildlife Park.

If you decide that another trip to the African Safari Wildlife Park is in due order, then you may need to find a local hotel.  Port Clinton has several hotel options available to you and you can find great rates at HotelsCombined.com.
