Why not stop in at the Neil Armstrong Air and Space Museum for a look at the accomplishments and achievements of the first man to ever walk on the moon, Neil Armstrong. This is an amazing two floor museum that is located in Wapakoneta, Ohio off of the 1-75 interstate. The Neil Armstrong Air and Space Museum is opened Tuesday through Saturday from 9:30AM to 5PM and then on Sunday from 12noon to 5PM. It is closed every Monday and holidays such as Christmas, New Years Day, Thanksgiving and July 4th. The Neil Armstrong Air and Space Museum admission is $8 for adults, $4 for children ages 6-12 and free for kids 5 and under. They also offer senior discounts along with offering discounts to active men and women in the military and their dependants.

Within this amazing two level museum you will see artifacts and displays that show case the life of Neil Armstrong who is a native of Ohio . On display are both the Apollo and the Germini space suits that he actually wore while on his missions for NASA. You can also see a moon rock that was collected by Neil Armstrong and his co-partner Edwin Aldrin on their first lunar landing that happened in July of 1969.

There are several displays that you don’t want to miss while you are visiting the Neil Armstrong Air and Space Museum. The display of the Gemini 8 spacecraft that Neil Armstrong flew along with fellow astronaut David Scott back in 1966 on the very first space docking mission. The Aeronca 7SC Champion is also on display. This is the very first plan that Neil Armstrong ever flew.

While you are at the Neil Armstrong Air and Space Museum don’t miss the chance to check out several of the multimedia presentations that take place at the Astro Theater. These presentations will bring to life the sounds and sights of actual space travel. You will also want to make sure that you take part in the simulator that simulates an actual landing of the space shuttle.
