Hocking Hills

Hocking County was named from a shortened version of the Hockhocking River. Hockhocking, in the Delaware tongue, signifies a bottle. In Shawnee, Wea-tha-Kagh-Qua-sepe, meant bottle river. The Hockhocking River had a waterfall of nearly 20 feet located about 6 or 7 miles northwest of Lancaster. Above the falls, the creek was very narrow and straight, forming the "bottle" neck. At the falls the riverbed spreads out into some of the best hiking in Ohio.

The farm is part of the Cuyahoga Valley Natioanl Park's Countryside Conservancy At The Spicy Lamb Farm, we raise Dorset sheep, have started an orchard with organic varieties of apple, pears, and plums., and are planting a spicy herb/vegetable garden, wildflowers, and pumpkins. The Spicy Lamb Farm does entertaining and educational sheep and duck herding demonstrations. Border collie demonstrations are a crowd pleaser for special events or parties.
